To ensure a seat belt is protecting you properly, it’s important to. replace it if any of these signs appear.  If you see any of these signs, your seat belt will no longer provide adequate protection in the event of an accident and therefore needs replacing.

  1. Damage
  2. Worn-out Webbing
  3. Heat damage
  4. Smells
  5. Age

You can read more about what these signs of damage look like.

And if you’re not sure whether or not the seat belt is damaged, you can always have it inspected by a professional. You can contact our customer service team for recommendations of seat belt inspection services and seat belt repairs tailored to your specific requirement. We also offer a seat belt re-webbing service that our team will be happy to tell you about.

In addition to checking the seat belt webbing you should also check the buckle to ensure proper safety and functioning.

Although it is possible to install a seat belt yourself, we do not recommend this. Instead, seek qualified competent personnel to install your seat belt. You can contact our customer service team for recommendations for a seat belt repair service tailored to your specific requirement.

When you’re shopping for a seat belt, it’s important to consider the following factors: What do you need your seat belt for? Are you looking for a basic seat belt to keep you safe in the event of a crash, or do you need something more specialised, like a racing seat belt or coach bus seat belt?

Seat belt types:

  • 2-point: known as lap belts.
  • 3-point: consists of a strap that goes over your shoulder and another that goes across your lap. This is a standard seat belt found in cars and provides the greatest safety.
  • 4-point harness: most commonly used in racing and off-road cars.
  • 5-point harness: similar to 4-point harness with extra strap mounted to the vehicle. It’s most popular with motorsports vehicles but also with parents who use child car seats.
